Our Team

Cara

Cara is one of our 3 founders and the director of the rescue. Cara enjoys doing some of our transports. She also enjoys riding a motorcycle with her husband and spending time in Florida with her aunt, but with a rescue/sanctuary based out of their home, time away is few and far between.

Kris

Kris is Cara’s husband and one of the 3 founders of the rescue. He is a key player in taking care of the dogs and cleaning kennels especially while Cara and Kay are gone on transports or out trapping dogs. Kris works a full time job outside of the rescue. He enjoys working on cars and riding his motorcycle when he isn’t helping with the dogs.

Kailey

Kay is the 3rd founder of the rescue. She does our training and behavioral assessments. She has 4 small dogs of her own and likes fostering the senior or special needs dogs. Kay also enjoys drawing and working with reptiles and recently got her degree. She is now a master herpetologist.

Sheryl

Sheryl is one of our assistants who does a little bit of everything. She has been Cara’s ride or die over the last 7 years. Even in the middle of the night to unknown destinations. Sheryl has been fostering for over 10 years and has had over 100 fosters in her home. She enjoys fostering the special needs and seniors.

Tina

During the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Tina and her family decided to foster for CHR. Tina quickly became an active team member shortly after, using her creative background in photography and graphics to provide website design and photography. She also accompanied Cara on multiple transports and trips to rescue dogs from high-kill shelters. Tina and her husband have 3 foster fails with CHR and 5 cats. Their shared dream is to own a property where they can offer pet boarding services and create a beautiful sanctuary for senior dogs to enjoy their golden years.

Linda

Linda worked as a teacher and media specialist for 34 years. After retiring in 2007, she started as a volunteer and foster at ACSPCA and EB Feline Rehoming. She moved on to several other rescues and shelters before joining CHR as a foster and eventually as an Adoption Coordinator. Finding the best match for the dog and the family is her priority.

Zandra
I am a complete all-around animal lover who is soon to be married, feather to fins even tails to scales I love them all! I personally have a horse, dog, cat’s, fish and a couple reptiles. Some side hobbies have included horse rehab and massage therapy; I also went through dog training of basic obedience. That also included ‘task’ service dog training as well as some aggressive/reactive dog training. I was also a lead nutritionist and, in a lead supervisory role for almost 3 years. I also have a way with technology, more specifically data entry! I have been able to use this combination of animal knowledge and love with my technology knowledge to be able to aid in helping Canine Haven Rescue.
